1. What we collect

When you use Chive, we collect the following information:

• Account info — your phone number and authentication/session data used to sign you in.
• Linked channels — phone numbers or social accounts you connect so Chive knows which messages belong to you.
• Saved content — URLs you share with us and the structured knowledge we extract (recipes, steps, tips, etc.).
• Usage data — basic analytics like page views and feature usage to improve the product.

2. How we use your data

• Process videos and links you share to extract structured knowledge.
• Store and organize your saved content so you can search and retrieve it.
• Send you transactional messages related to your account or processed content.
• Improve our AI extraction quality and product experience.

3. AI processing

We use AI (powered by OpenAI) to analyze video and link content you share with us. The content you send is processed through OpenAI's API to extract structured information. We do not use your content to train AI models. OpenAI's API data usage policies apply to content processed through their services.

4. Third-party services

We rely on the following third-party services:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
• OpenAI — AI content extraction and analysis.
• Apify — fetching public video metadata and transcripts from social platforms.
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure.

5. SMS and mobile information

If you text Chive or link your phone number, we use your mobile number to authenticate your account, identify messages you send, process links you request us to save, send transactional replies, and provide help or opt-out confirmation.

We do not sell or share SMS opt-in data, consent records, or mobile phone numbers with third parties for their promotional or marketing purposes.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data and saved content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data and saved content within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access — view all data we hold about you.
• Export — download your saved content at any time.
• Delete — permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings.
• Correct — update your account information.

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We also store your theme preference in local storage. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication via Supabase Auth, and access controls on stored data. No system is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of Chive after changes constitutes acceptance.
